Since its creation in 2009, the CREW M Excellence Gala has paid tribute to the excellence of women in commercial real estate. The awards event raises the profile of women working in the industry and supports them in their career development. In line with CREW M’s mission, it promotes both new talent and women of experience. Each year, CREW M members and non-members are invited to submit nominations in one of two categories: Rising Star, and Excellence and Leadership.

The awards evening is the organization’s signature event, bringing together top leaders and influencers in the industry. It is one of the premiere events on the real estate calendar.

In 2015, a new award was added: the Tribute award. Given by the Montréal CREW chapter, it is awarded to an experienced woman who has significantly contributed to the advancement of women in the industry.

Join us on November 21, 2017,
to salute excellence!

Rising Star award
Catherine Béland
Notary /
Cain Lamarre

For Catherine, destiny led her to the field of commercial real estate – a path that she couldn’t have foreseen from her school desk, but which she all the same embarked on, rising through her profession as a notary specializing in co-ownership. Still to this day, her determination to achieve nothing less than excellence is evident in everything she undertakes. Whether through her invaluable advice to help optimize a large-scale project, her involvement in the development of her young team at Cain Lamarre or writing her book Copropriété, Catherine impresses on all fronts.

Excellence and Leadership award
Sonia Rainville
Partner /
Fasken Martineau

Involved in several major condominium projects that have shaped the Montreal landscape, Sonia constantly exceeds the expectations of her clients by bringing ambitious solutions to the table. Her power of conviction and visionary spirit have allowed her to make her mark in the commercial real estate sector over the past 25 years. A woman of strength and skilled communicator, it’s not surprising that she opened her own firm – a challenge that few young professionals have the courage to try! It’s no doubt what makes her an inspiring mentor, who is conscious of the needs of junior lawyers with whom she collaborates on a daily basis. She imparts the importance of a solid team and the drive to push one’s limits, but also to enjoy one’s work and laugh – hard and often.

Tribute award
Danielle Lavoie
Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager, Eastern Canada /
Cadillac Fairview

A driving force both in her professional life as well as in her community, Danielle is an exceptional leader – a strength that is apparent throughout her unique career path. As a lawyer, accountant or real estate broker, she has inspired teams during the successful development of ambitious projects. It is only natural that Danielle joined Cadillac Fairview’s senior management team, taking up the position of Senior Vice-President and Portfolio Manager, Eastern Canada, in 2014. Danielle is also active as a coach to young athletes, inspiring the next generation. She has long followed her mantra, “enrich the sense of well-being” and encourages everyone around her to do the same. Over the years, Danielle Lavoie has been honoured with countless awards and distinctions: in 2010, the magazine Premières en affaires named her one of the “8 leaders of the industry”; in 2012, she won the Prix d’excellence for her involvement within the real estate sector as well as the advancement of women in this area.
